Lehigh Acres recorded a 2020 census population of 114,287, up sharply from 86,784 in 2010. The community traces back to 1954, when Chicago businessman Lee Ratner bought 18,000 acres — originally the Lucky Lee Ranch — and the development eventually spread across roughly 61,000 acres, absorbing land from the former Buckingham Army Airfield.
